I’m Tom Royce, and I write The Travel Bloggers. These are guides to lesser-known towns — the markets, rivers, neighborhoods, food, and places to stay that you only notice if you skip the template itinerary.
I live in Wilmington, North Carolina. Travel started early: regular cross-country trips from New York to California at 15, a solo flight to Australia at 17, and time studying in Europe during college. Later I married a flight attendant, which turned standby flying into a habit of last-minute trips and lingering stays. Recent ones include time in Paris and a Rome-based loop through Italy, with day trips to Pompeii and the towns around Sorrento.
On the ground I look for the practical and the small: secondary cities, regional trains, the food that belongs to a place, the walk from the station to the quiet square. That is what I write here.
